Underwater Volcanoes
We all know that there are volcanoes on land, but what about the volcanoes in the water? Underwater volcanoes have been around for as long as surface volcanoes. You may not know this, but underwater volcanoes play a big part to our enviroment. As a matter of fact, underwater volcanoes have created thousands of different islands! Water has a lot more pressure than air, so the volcanoes cause massive eruptions which creates islands. Have you ever seen small islands out in the middle of the water? If you saw those islands out on the ocean there is a good chance that at one point a underwater valcanoe was once right underneath that island! If you saw a small island out in the middle of a lake, that was probably formed a lond time ago around when the earth was just forming!
Underwater valcannoes don't need to just be in deep water but they can also be in shallow water! Underwater valcanoes obviously can't shoot out lava since they are under the water, so instead they shoot out tons of water!!
Underwater volcanoes are actually quite common but because they are usually out in the middle of the ocean, humans barely ever see them. So if you are going out to the middle ofo the ocean, either on a cruise or just to look at the amazing view, try to find a way to look under the water because the view is just as great under the water as it is on top!
